Rift Mage Secrets

Guides go a long way in helping gamers like you and me. We tend to deny it, but we know that when we get stuck and frustrated, it’s those game guides that solves our headache. I was very lucky to be able to join the Rift beta event and even luckier to come across a Rift guide for the class I play. I wasn’t surprised by the good quality writing that greeted me as I opened the PDF guide. The game publisher, Killer Guides has been in the game guide publishing industry for many years and have created over 200 strategy guides for popular games like WoW, LotRO, EVE and Aion. So it’s a given that their Rift Planes of Telara Mage Guide would be yet another well written piece of work.

Although the guide is in it’s very early version when I got it, I found the strategies, tips and gaming hints that the guide writer provided were extraordinary. Some, which really works wonders for the class are ridiculously simple and yet I wasn’t able to think of them on my own. The best combination would be getting their Rift Mage Guide for the class specific strategies and using it together with their Rift Strategy Hintbook. Would recommend these Rift guides over and over again to fellow Rift fans (mages especially).

Rift Mage Guide

The new massively multiplayer online role playing game of Rift allows you to select the character you will develop from one of four callings: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, or Cleric. Whichever Rift calling you choose to fight under you will be exposed to a game filled with riveting game play, stunning visual details, and a challenging dynamic world. The class system that you decide to play under will also effect how your game playing experience is. If you pick to fight as a Mage you will be entering into one of the most sacred and challenging callings. The Rift Planes of Telara Mage is the keeper of ancient and powerful magic. As a Mage you will learn how to call the elemental energies from the earth and wield the magical properties of Altera as you bring together deadly spells and powers on your enemies. For more details about the other classes, getting a Rift callings and classes reference would prove beneficial. You get to learn the strength and weak points of each class you may come up against in PvP.

As a Rift Planes of Telara Mage you can decide to fight as one of 5 classes. First, is the Rift Mage Elementalist. The Elementalist is dedicated to the study of the powers of the elementals. they have control over the power of earth, wind, fire and water. their physical appearance is not intimidating but the power they can wield most definitely is.

The Rift Mage Warlock is a practitioner of the deadly black magic. His main focus is on destruction and death and he is very good at what he does. He prefers not to be on the forefront of combat but rather to lurk in the background of the shadows and rain down mayhem on his foes. His dark magic is begetting of his majestic appearance as he looks like a saint but can sting like the devil.

The Rift Mage Pyromancer is a practitioner of fire. He is a master of fire in all of its forms and loves nothing more than to reign down fire and brimstone on his enemies. The Pyromancer is a great ally because he can call down fire on his foes from a great distance thus removing himself from any potential damage while reeking destruction among his enemies.

The Rift Mage Stormcaller wields together air and water to perform some of the most impressive displays of magic held within the game. You would never know that this character is so powerful but you would never want to be on the receiving end of one of his magic spells. The raw power of air and water are amazing and it should come as no surprise that his powers are unrivaled in the game.

Rift Mage Guide – Solo Builds

Rift makes sure all gamers will have to play both solo and as part of a group sooner or later in the game. At the very beginning, most gamers will find themselves soloing to go up the first few levels. Below is a mini Rift mage guide for builds to go solo in the game. For serious gamers, I would recommend the Rift mage strategy manual by Killer Guides.

When it comes to soloing, the necromancer soul is unquestionable one of the better ones to chose for your primary soul. It is without doubt that th necromancer souls is the fastest mage soul in terms of how fast the subclass takes down its enemies in fights. This does not mean that the necromancer is the only choice for mages who wants to solo effectively. Note that all the souls are developed by Trion Worlds to be able to solo well on their own. I’m recommending the necromancer merely because this mage’s abilities comes in very handy while soloing.

Besides the necromancer, the elementalist could also be considered a solid mage solo build. The elementalist pet is a huge help when the souls is bombarded by many enemies at once. Keep in mind though that the souls deals less damage compared to the necromancer.

Well, there you go on the topic of Rift mage solo builds. Of course as you progress through the game, the increasing availability of souls and abilities, you may come across builds that are better at soloing. For starters, I would stick to the necromancer or elementalist.

Rift Mage Guide – Builds for Group Play

Here’s a short Rift mage guide to the recommended mage builds for group play. The role of a mage in group play falls largely into two main areas which is as healing and DPS.
The mage pyromancer soul is great for DPS. This mage build has some of the better abilities when it comes to suitability for group play. First, there are those buff abilities and then there’s the fire storm ability which easily eradicates group of mobs. The pyromancer goes far for mages who prefers playing in a group.

For healing, there’s none other than the chloromancer class that should be strongly considered. Instead of direct healing to hit points or vitality like with other games’ healers, the chloromancer heals the group using buffs and debuffs. An example of how the cloromancer mage heals is seen with the basic radiant spores spell (ability) which debuffs the target. This debuff also heals the attacker of that target.

Another group healing spell that the chloromancer uses is the lifegiving viel. This ability heals the group in proportion to the damage made by the mage. The cool down and cast time of spells could also be reduced by using this mages abilities. And last but not least, the chloromancer has the must needed resurrection ability.

Rift PvP Guide: An Overview Of PvP Combat In Rift

At the core of game play in Rift lays PvP combat. This short Rift PvP Guide will attempt to familiarize players with the concept of PvP combat in Rift.

The World of Rift is split into two different factions, the Guardians, and the Defiant, who disagree vastly about the shape the world should take.

PvP combat will take place in a variety of ways within the world of Rift. There will be battles grounds, areas sealed off from the rest of the world, and used specifically for player against player warfare. These battle zones will be level based, so players of similar levels can face off in group combat. Players will contend in these PvP zones under various rules such as capture the flag, city raid modem as well as zone scaled invasion areas.

For those who desire the thrill of constant danger there will be dedicated PvP servers, where no one is safe, and the battle rages constantly on all fronts. These servers are for the truly stout of heart, but they bring the reality of the conflicting beliefs of the faction to the forefront of the game play.

There are rewards for the daring, and mighty of course. By competing in PvP combat, players can accumulate favor point. Favor can be used to unlock abilities, weapons, armor, and new souls to help players gain an edge in the ever escalating war between the faction. Prestige can also be gained through PvP combat, which allows players to gain rank, and notoriety among their fellow players. There is also a special stat called valor, which helps mitigate damage specifically from other players. While players will be able to gain levels through PvP they will still need to complete the PvP content to truly maximize their character.

There are also certain Souls that are more geared toward PvP combat, that the player can experiment. This is only a short Rift PvP Guide. There are many more in depth guides available on the internet, and there is no substitute for experience gained in the trenches. While participating in PvP combat is not a requirement, it provides players a chance to compete against an enemy that can think, grow, and adapt to situations as they change.

This Rift PvP Guide should give new players enough information to dive right in and experiment with their own Player vs. Players strategies, as they attempt to reforge that world of Rift into the world their faction envision.

Rift Souls Guide: An Introduction To Rift Souls

At the very heart of Rift, lays the Souls system. This short Rift souls guide is aimed at giving a new player a better understand of what the Souls system is, and how it works. This Rift souls guide is not meant as a full tutorial, but to help give an understanding to new users.

In Rift the player will have four initial classes to choose from. Their soul selections allows the player an opportunity for in depth customization.

The Warrior souls focus on using the strength, high hit points, and high defense of the class to fill a multitude of roles. A Warrior who chooses the champion soul gains speed, and power, making them a frightening opponent in combat, however in exchange for this power the Champion loses defense. The Paladin souls, on the other hand, is built to take a pounding, and works well as a front line tank. The one draw back is that the Paladin can be vulnerable to magical attack.

Rogues using the Blade Dancer soul can dish out amazing amounts of damage in short burst, however they are not endurance fighters, and will need time to regain energy after delivering a barrage. A rouge with an Assassin soul is a master of shadows. He strikes unseen, and then, like a ghost, fades away. While Assassins have great attack power, their defense is left lacking, making hit and run tactics their best choice.

The Cleric class brings more than just healing to the table. The Justicar soul thrives in the midst of combat. It is from battle that the Justicar gains his ability to heal, making him a mighty force on the battlefield. Sentinels on the other hand give up offensive power, in exchange for the defense needed to support a team on the front lines.

The Mage class deals with those who wield powerful enchantments. Their soul determines what kind of magic they fling in combat. The Necromancer, for instance, summons up legions of the dead to aid them in battle. While their undead armies are mighty, should they lose their pets that will find themselves exposed. Mages who use the Warlock soul are the masters of the creeping death. Their spells are aimed at draining the life from their foes. The one drawback is that it takes time for the spell to work, which may leave the Warlock vulnerable at times.

This Rift Souls guide should give the player an idea of the kind of diversity this will allow.

Rift Guides

The upcoming game Rift is sure to be a fan favorite. The game includes stunning details and graphics, innovative game play, and a dynamic and constantly changing environment. The character creation and navigation are very innovative and are sure to keep players coming back for more.

As a player begins their game they will create their character and begin the process of raising them into a very powerful force within Rift.

There are many different combinations of characters that a player can choose from as they begin their journey in Rift. Players can choose from one of four callings: Warrior, Mage, Cleric, and Rogue. Within each of these callings they can select one of six different classes. Each of these classes will provide a unique game play experience and will determine the outcome of the game details. the calling will determine the style of playing and the style of fighting that a player must adhere to while the class will give a character their specific abilities and skills. The class will also determine what kinds of weapons a character can carry and what type of fighting they are best at. Besides this site, details about the mage class could also be found at the larger and more generic Rift websites and references. For instance, this Rift Planes of Telara blog offers a section specifically for the mage calling.

One of the most basic skills in Rift is the art of fighting. As a character that hopes to travel through a dangerous world and to win battles, fight strong enemies, and generally save the world, they must first learn to fight before all else. Depending on the class that a character chooses, the first weapon that a character possesses will differ. If a character chooses to play under the Warrior calling for example, the first weapon he will possess is a sword. The type of sword might differ slightly depending on what class he has chose, but it will still be a sword. the Cleric is armed with a magical staff, and the Rogue is armed with a bow and arrows. These are the basic weapons and are indicative of what a player can expect as they progress through Rift.

A character can begin to learn the basics of their fighting skills by fighting some of the very basic monsters outside of the town where the characters first find themselves. These enemies are very easy to destroy and they allow players to experiment with their character and figure out the basic controls. Players should use a combination of the mouse and their keyboard to navigate their characters and to make them fight. As characters progress they will learn much more advanced game play but these basic fighting skills are critical.
